Mussel Coconut Fry (Kakka Thoran)

Ingredients

Mussel meat – 250 gm
Red chilli powder – ½ tsp
Turmeric powder – ¼ tsp
Pepper powder  - ½ tsp
Coriander powder – ¼ tsp
Garam masala powder – ¼ tsp
Small Onion – 15 nos.
Garlic – 4 cloves
Coconut grated - 4 tbsp
Salt to taste
Curry leaves for garnishing
Mustard seeds – ¼ tsp
Olive oil – 1 tbsp

Method


Clean and wash the mussel meat. Cook the mussels with water, salt, red chilli powder, pepper powder and turmeric powder till the mussels looses all its water content. Heat oil in a pan, add the mustard seeds, curry leaves and small onions, garlic. Mix till the onions turn golden in color. Then add the mussel cooked earlier. In a blender, grind the coconut grated a little, with little turmeric, coriander and garam masala powder. Into the mussel add the coconut and masalas from the blender. Mix well and cook till they combine well. When done, serve hot with rice or chapatti.
